October 26 is the last day to register for Round 1 of Himachal Pradesh’s NEET PG 2026 counselling. The Atal Medical and Research University (AMRU), which runs the state’s counselling, opened the application window on October 22. Two of the four days are already gone.

The round covers MD, MS and DNB seats for the 2026-27 session across government medical colleges and private institutions in the state. AMRU has also released the final merged PG prospectus on its website, and candidates should read it before filling the form.

The schedule is short and the closing time is unstated

The official dates are simple. Online application submission with successful fee transaction started on October 22 and ends on October 26, 2026. AMRU has not announced a closing time for the last day, so candidates should not leave it for the final evening.

The state merit list is yet to be announced. AMRU will publish it on its official website, followed by the choice filling window and the Round 1 allotment schedule.

Who can apply, and what it costs

Candidates must hold an MBBS degree recognised by the National Medical Commission and must have qualified NEET PG 2026, the exam conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences. The compulsory rotating internship has to be completed by the cut-off date in the notification, and permanent or provisional registration with the State Medical Council or the NMC is mandatory.

Candidates claiming the Himachal Pradesh bonafide quota need a valid bonafide certificate issued by the state authority. The prospectus also sets out separate rules for in-service GDO, management and NRI categories, so applicants should match their own details against the right set of rules before choosing a quota.

The registration fee is Rs 3,600 for General and EWS candidates and Rs 2,500 for SC and ST candidates. Persons with Disabilities are exempted. The fee is paid online and is not refunded, whatever the outcome of the round.

How to register

Registration runs entirely on the official AMRU counselling portal. The process asks for a new applicant account, personal and academic details, the NEET PG 2026 scorecard, and scanned documents in the prescribed format. Keep everything ready before you start: MBBS degree, internship certificate, registration certificate, category and domicile proof, and a photograph and signature.

The form asks for scanned certificates in a specific format, and our admission documents checklist covers what to keep in order.

This state quota counselling runs alongside the central MCC counselling for All India Quota seats. If you are weighing the two routes, our guide on central vs state vs private universities explains how the quotas and the colleges under them differ.
