Students at Gauhati University will soon be able to learn Adobe tools and AI skills without paying course fees, and apply for a semester abroad through the same push. The university signed two agreements on Thursday, 5 November 2026, that cover both.

The first agreement is with the Ladli Foundation Trust of New Delhi. Under it, the university will run the Adobe Creative and AI Digital Skills Accelerator on campus. Students get free, self-paced learning modules and digital certification in creative technologies, AI literacy, design, multimedia and digital content creation.

The second agreement is with the Taksheela Institute of Education, which works out of Kolkata and Bengaluru. It opens international higher education options for Gauhati University students, including study-abroad and semester-abroad programmes.

What students actually get

The Adobe programme is the part with the most detail so far. It is free, the modules are self-paced, and students who finish get a digital certificate. That combination suits students who want a usable skill alongside their degree, since they can work through the material around classes instead of attending fixed sessions.

The programme covers five areas: creative technologies, AI literacy, design, multimedia and digital content creation. For students who have never used Adobe tools, the certificate gives them something concrete to show for the time spent.

The Taksheela agreement is thinner on detail at this stage. The reports describe study-abroad and semester-abroad programmes, but they do not name partner universities abroad, list eligible courses or give application dates. Students interested in that route will need to wait for the university to publish the specifics.

Who signed, and where

Both agreements were signed in the Registrar’s Conference Room. Registrar Prof Utpal Sarma signed for the university, with authorised representatives of the two organisations. Prof Shikhar Kumar Sarma, head of the Department of Information Technology, signed on behalf of the department, which facilitated both agreements.

Gauhati University is a state public university in Guwahati, Assam, established in 1948.

What is still unclear

No date has been announced for when the Adobe training opens for enrolment, and the reports do not say which students are eligible or how seats will be allotted. The study-abroad side has even fewer specifics so far. The university has not published a notice with those details yet, so students should check the official Gauhati University website rather than rely on second-hand posts. Our scholarships guide also lists funding options that can help with the costs of studying abroad.
