The GATE 2027 application correction window opened today, October 14, 2026. Candidates who already submitted their forms have until October 21 to fix mistakes through the GOAPS portal. IIT Madras, which is running GATE 2027, will not offer another chance after the window closes.
Registration with a late fee ended on October 12, so this correction phase is only for candidates who completed their applications. Nobody can submit a fresh form during this window.
What you can change
IIT Madras allows edits to most personal and academic details in the submitted form. The editable fields include name, date of birth, gender, PwD status, category, parent or guardian details, correspondence address, and college information. Candidates can also change their exam paper, switch exam city, and add a second paper.
One thing stays locked. The photograph and signature cannot be changed unless the authorities flag them during scrutiny. If your uploaded photo or signature was marked defective, the portal will let you replace it as part of the defect rectification process.
What it costs
Minor spelling fixes to parent or institution details are free. Other changes carry a fee of Rs 500. The fee rises to Rs 1,500 when a change moves a candidate into a different fee slab, for example from female to another gender, from SC/ST to another category, or from PwD to non-PwD. The correction fee is non-refundable, even if a correction request is later rejected. Payment goes through net banking, credit card, debit card, or UPI.
How to make the correction
Log in to the official GATE 2027 portal with your enrollment ID or email address and password. Open the application form, edit the fields you need to fix, pay any fee that applies, and submit. Download the confirmation page once the form is submitted and keep it with your records.
Check every field against your original documents before you submit. The portal will not reopen for a second round, and a wrong category or exam city left in the form is hard to fix later. Our admission documents checklist lists the scans and certificates worth keeping ready before you sit down to edit.
What comes next
After the correction window closes, the next milestone is the exam city intimation on January 4, 2027, which tells candidates where they will write the exam. GATE 2027 will be held on six days across three weekends in February: the 6th, 7th, 13th, 14th, 20th and 21st. The result is expected on March 19, 2027.
A GATE score remains the main route into MTech and PhD programmes at the IITs and NITs, and several public sector companies also use it for recruitment. With the form now locked in after October 21, this week is the last chance to make sure every detail on it is right.
