GATE 2027: 5 days left to fix your form before the October 21 deadline

If your GATE 2027 application has a typo in your name, the wrong exam city, or a category detail that needs updating, October 21 is the last day to fix it. Indian Institute of Technology Madras, which is organising GATE 2027, opened the application correction window on October 14. Once the window closes, your submitted form is locked.

The facility is live on the GOAPS portal at the official GATE 2027 website. Log in with your enrolment ID or registered email address and password, open the application dashboard, and pick the detail you want to change. If the change carries a fee, you pay it online before submitting. IIT Madras advises candidates to check the edit options shown on their own dashboard before proceeding, since the facility works field by field.

What you can change

The portal allows edits to personal details including your name, date of birth, gender, category, and Persons with Disabilities status. You can also update dyslexic status, your parents’ or guardian’s address, and your correspondence and permanent addresses.

Exam-related choices are editable too. You can switch your choice of exam paper, add an additional paper, and change your exam city preferences. What it costs

Not every correction costs money. Small fixes such as correcting a spelling mistake in your parents’ names or the name of your institution can be made free of charge. Bigger changes carry an additional fee. Adding a second paper or changing the exam city falls in this category, and IIT Madras collects it online through net banking, credit card, debit card or UPI.

What you cannot change

One exception matters more than the rest. You cannot edit your uploaded photograph or signature during this window unless the portal team has flagged them. That flagging happens under a separate process, sometimes called defect rectification, where the zonal offices raise issues with wrongly uploaded photos, signatures or ID details. If your form is under scrutiny and the authorities ask for a new upload, follow that instruction separately. It is not the same as the correction window.

What comes next

With corrections due on October 21, the next big date is the exam itself. GATE 2027 will be held on February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21, 2027, and results are expected on March 19, 2027.
