University of Delhi has put 126 non-teaching jobs up for grabs, and the application window opens on October 23. Both posts, Senior Assistant and Assistant, sit on the administrative side of the university, and both need a bachelor’s degree plus a few years of relevant service experience.

The notice covers 46 Senior Assistant posts and 80 Assistant posts through direct recruitment. Applications will be accepted from October 23 to November 9 on the official website, under the university’s Work with DU section. Anyone planning to apply should read the notification before paying, because the experience conditions are specific and will be checked against the closing date.

The category-wise vacancy breakup

Seats are split across categories. Unreserved candidates get 21 Senior Assistant and 35 Assistant posts. SC candidates get 6 and 11, ST candidates get 3 and 6, OBC candidates get 12 and 21, and EWS candidates get 4 and 7. The two totals come to 46 and 80, matching the 126 vacancies announced.

Who is eligible

Both posts require a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university. The difference lies in experience and age. A Senior Assistant applicant needs three years as an Assistant or equivalent in Pay Level 4, and the maximum age is 35. An Assistant applicant needs two years as a Junior Assistant or equivalent, with the maximum age set at 32. On the pay scale, the Senior Assistant post is in Pay Level 6 and the Assistant post in Pay Level 4.

The degree alone does not make you eligible. Both posts are meant for candidates who are already working in administrative roles and have put in the prescribed years of service, so fresh graduates will not qualify.

Selection process and application fee

The university will run a preliminary test, a main examination and a qualifying skill test as the selection stages. The application fee varies by category, from Rs 600 to Rs 1,000, and is paid online along with the form.

How to apply

Apply only through the official portal. Open du.ac.in, go to the Work with DU section, find the advertisement for Senior Assistant and Assistant posts under the Departments listing, and fill the form there. Keep a printed copy of the submitted application for your records, since that is the proof of what you entered.

When you reach the verification stage, you will need your degree certificate and proof of service experience ready. Our admission documents checklist covers the identity and education proofs universities typically ask for, and most of it applies here as well.
