Students who missed today’s deadline have ten more days. The University of Delhi has extended the last date to apply for its Financial Support Scheme 2026-27 from October 13 to October 23, 2026. The scheme waives part of the annual fee for full-time students whose family income falls below the prescribed limits.
The University of Delhi runs the scheme through its Dean Students’ Welfare office. It is open to full-time bonafide undergraduate and postgraduate students enrolled in a university department, institute or centre. The size of the waiver depends on the student’s annual family income.
Two income slabs decide how much help a student gets. Students with an annual family income of up to Rs 4 lakh fall in Category I and can get up to a 100% fee waiver, capped at Rs 15,000. Those with a family income between Rs 4 lakh and Rs 8 lakh fall in Category II and can get up to a 50% waiver, capped at Rs 10,000.
Who cannot apply
The scheme does not cover everyone at DU. Students enrolled in constituent colleges are excluded, as are BTech students except those at the Cluster Innovation Centre, students of five-year integrated law programmes, and students of the School of Open Learning and NCWEB. Students who have an Essential Repeat (ER) in any previous examination are also not eligible.
Documents you will need
The university has asked applicants to keep their income, academic and bank documents ready before filling the form. The main ones are an income certificate (or EWS/OBC-NCL certificate) for FY 2025-26 issued by a competent authority, the latest income tax returns and PAN cards of parents and unmarried siblings, a bonafide certificate signed by the Head or Director, the last examination marksheet, the latest fee receipt, and a bank passbook or cancelled cheque in the student’s name.
Two details are worth noting. An income certificate issued in the student’s own name will not be accepted, and neither will one signed by a notary. The university has also said that brothers listed in the form must be below 25 years of age.
How to apply
Applications go through the official DSW portal. Fill the online form on the official DSW portal before the October 23 deadline and keep the confirmation safe for the next step. DU has said the schedule for submitting printed copies of the form along with the documents at the DSW office will be announced separately, so the online application is only the first part. Students with questions can write to fss@dsw.du.ac.in.
