If an MBA seat in 2027 is on your list, get your documents scanned this week. The CMAT 2027 registration window has not opened yet, and it could go live any day now on the official portal, cmat.nta.nic.in. The exam date is already fixed: February 7, 2027, from the NTA calendar released in September.
The exam date comes from NTA’s tentative calendar, released in September. Registration dates are still to be announced, but the window is expected in October-November 2026, based on last year’s cycle, when registration ran from October 17 to November 24.
What CMAT scores get you
CMAT is the national entrance test for MBA and PGDM programmes at AICTE-approved business schools across India. The test is computer-based. There is no upper age limit, and the scores are used by a large pool of management institutes for the 2027 admission cycle.
Final-year graduation students can apply provisionally, with proof of eligibility due at the time of admission.
Eligibility, in plain terms
You need a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university. The exam itself carries no minimum marks condition, but the colleges that accept CMAT scores generally ask for 50 per cent in graduation, with 45 per cent for reserved categories. Check the cut-offs of the schools on your list before you commit to a preparation plan.
There is no upper age limit. Indian nationals and OCI/NRI students can apply.
Documents to keep ready
Keep these on your computer before the portal opens. Incorrect uploads are one of the most common reasons forms get rejected:
- passport-size photograph in JPEG format, 10 KB to 200 KB, white background
- signature in JPEG format, 4 KB to 30 KB
- Class 10 marksheet, Class 12 marksheet and graduation marksheet
- caste certificate and PwD certificate, if applicable
- a valid photo ID such as Aadhaar, PAN or passport
Our admission documents checklist covers the paperwork entrance forms usually ask for, so you can confirm the details against the originals instead of from memory.
How to register once the link goes live
Open the official CMAT portal and click on the registration link. Enter your name as on the Class 10 certificate, date of birth, email ID and mobile number. The system will generate a 12-digit application number, which becomes your login for everything CMAT-related.
Log back in, fill in your academic and personal details, and pick up to four preferred test cities from the list. Upload the photograph and signature in the specified sizes, pay the fee online through card, UPI or net banking, and download the confirmation page. The fee is non-refundable, and the application stays incomplete until the payment goes through. NTA accepts no offline forms.
What to watch after registering
NTA is expected to open a short correction window of two to three days after the registration deadline. That window is mainly for changing the test city choice or uploading a better-quality photograph and signature. Beyond that, the details stay locked, so review every field before the final submit.
Admit cards are expected in January 2027, though the exact date will come with the official notification. Track the official portal for updates rather than third-party links, since tentative schedules can change.
