Nineteen days. That is the time left for law aspirants to submit their CLAT 2027 application. The Consortium of National Law Universities has set October 31, 2026 as the last date for registration, and the window closes on the official CLAT portal after that. No applications will be accepted once the deadline passes.

Registration opened on August 3, 2026, so the window has already been open for more than two months. Anyone who still has not filed should not wait for the last week, when portals slow down under the rush and small upload errors become harder to fix.

What CLAT 2027 covers

CLAT is the national-level entrance test for undergraduate and postgraduate law programmes at the participating National Law Universities, including NLSIU Bangalore and National Law University Delhi. A single CLAT score decides admission across the NLU network for the 2027-28 academic session. The exam is scheduled for December 6, 2026, from 2 PM to 4 PM, in offline mode.

Who can apply

For the undergraduate programme, candidates must have passed Class 12 from a recognised board with at least 45 per cent marks. Candidates from the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe categories need 40 per cent. For the postgraduate programme, applicants need an LLB from a university recognised by the Bar Council of India, with at least 50 per cent marks, or 45 per cent for SC and ST candidates.

Key dates

  • Registration opened: August 3, 2026
  • Last date to apply: October 31, 2026
  • Exam: December 6, 2026, 2 PM to 4 PM (offline)

How to register

The whole process runs online on the official CLAT portal. First register with your name, mobile number and email ID. Then log in, fill in the personal and academic details, choose the programme and category, upload the documents in the prescribed format, and pay the application fee. After payment, download the submitted form and keep a printout for your records.

Keep the Class 12 or graduation mark sheets, identity proof, a passport-size photograph and signature ready before you start. Candidates applying under a reserved category will also need the category certificate. Our admission documents checklist runs through the standard paperwork most applicants need, and getting it sorted first saves a painful last-day scramble.

After the deadline

Once registration closes, the Consortium moves toward admit cards and the December exam, followed by results and counselling for seat allocation. Missing the October 31 cutoff means waiting a full year for the next session, since the Consortium does not reopen the form.
