Class 12 students can now plan their final months with certainty. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) released the date sheets for the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations 2027 on November 6. Both sets of theory papers begin on February 16, 2027, and every paper starts at 10:30 am.

The numbers behind the schedule are large. More than 46 lakh students have registered for the two examinations: over 26.5 lakh for Class 10 and over 19.8 lakh for Class 12. They will sit papers in 83 subjects in Class 10 and 121 subjects in Class 12.

Key dates for Class 12

Class 12 opens with Physics on February 16. Chemistry follows on February 27, English on March 5, Mathematics on March 9, Economics on March 16 and Biology on March 25. The last papers, Retail and Web Application, are scheduled for April 9.

Class 10 runs from February 16 to March 9. Mathematics is on February 17, Science on February 22, English on February 26 and Social Science on March 8.

Why the date sheet came out 101 days early

CBSE released the schedule 101 days before the first paper. The board said the early release would give students time to plan their preparation and reduce examination-related anxiety, and help schools plan academic work and support for board classes.

Fitting the timetable together took some doing. CBSE said it worked through more than 40,000 subject combinations so that two papers chosen by the same student do not clash, and left gaps between subjects that students commonly take together. It also kept the tentative schedules of major entrance examinations in mind, and said it made every effort to finish the board examinations well before those entrance tests begin.

Practical examinations and project assessments for both classes begin on January 1, 2027. Evaluation of answer scripts begins 10 days after each paper is held and is completed within 12 days.

Class 10 will continue with two examination sessions, as introduced last year. Dates for the second session have not been announced yet.

How to download the date sheet

Visit the official CBSE website and open the date sheet link. The full subject-wise PDF for Class 10 and Class 12 is available there. Students should check their own subject combination against the PDF rather than relying on summaries, since the Class 12 schedule alone covers 121 subjects.

What it means for university admissions

For Class 12 students, the board dates sit alongside entrance exam preparation. JEE Main 2027 session 1 is scheduled for January 20 to 24 and January 28, before the boards begin. CBSE said the entrance exam calendar was kept in mind while fixing the board dates, so the two should not collide.
