West Bengal domicile holders with a WBJEE 2026 rank have until 2 pm on October 27, 2026, to apply for the University of Calcutta’s first round of decentralised BTech counselling. Applications opened on October 14. This round covers 148 vacant seats across 14 branches in the BTech programmes for the 2026-27 session, with selection on WBJEE rank. The form is on the official portal, caluniv-ucsta.net.

A second shot at a Calcutta University seat

This round covers seats left empty after the central WBJEE rounds. Each institute runs its own process on its own notice, and Calcutta University’s spans everything from Computer Science and Engineering to Jute and Fibre Technology and Polymer Science and Technology. The seat count could rise during counselling if more vacancies surface.

The notification lists 148 seats in 14 branches: 5 in CSE, 11 in Information Technology, 12 in Electronics and Communication, 14 in Electrical Engineering, 18 in Instrumentation Engineering, and 31 in Jute and Fibre Technology, with 5% horizontally reserved for persons with disabilities. Jadavpur University’s parallel counselling closes at 11 am on October 23; all institutes must finish admissions by October 31.

Who can apply, and what to watch for

Applicants must hold a West Bengal domicile and a valid WBJEE 2026 rank, and must have passed Class 12 through regular classroom study with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects. The aggregate of those three subjects has to be at least 60%, lowered to 55% for SC, ST, OBC, PwD and EWS candidates, with pass marks in each subject including theory and practicals where they apply, plus at least 30% in English. JEE Main scores are not accepted in this round.

Those who cannot apply online can submit the prescribed form at the Secretary, UCSTA office, Rajabazar Science College Campus, 92 A.P.C. Road, Kolkata 700009, by 2 pm on October 27, or send it to the helpdesk email the university has provided.

Upload size limits apply: a self-attested photograph up to 50 KB, the signature up to 30 KB, and the Class 12 marksheet, Class 10 admit card or certificate, domicile certificate, WBJEE rank card, APAAR or ABC ID, and any category or PwD certificate, each up to 200 KB.
