Dental graduates in Punjab who missed the NEET MDS cutoff the first time have a second chance, and the clock is short. Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot, has released a revised schedule for the third round of Punjab State NEET MDS 2026 online counselling. Fresh registration opened on October 24 and closes on October 28, 2026, at 5 PM.
The revision follows a cut in the qualifying bar. Acting on a Ministry of Health and Family Welfare communication dated October 12, 2026, the National Board of Examinations lowered the NEET MDS 2026 qualifying percentiles. For General and EWS candidates, the percentile fell from the 50th to 29.424th, which brings the cutoff score down from 308 to 234. For PwD candidates it moved from the 45th percentile to 24.424th, with the score dropping from 289 to 218. For SC and BC candidates it fell from the 40th percentile to 19.424th, with the score down from 271 to 200. Candidates who now clear the revised cutoff can enter the third round.

The university has redrawn the full round, from registration to reporting. All dates close at 5 PM unless stated otherwise.

Fees and security deposit
The registration fee is Rs 5,900 including GST for General category candidates and Rs 2,950 including GST for SC and BC candidates. On top of that comes a refundable security deposit: Rs 25,000 for government dental colleges, Rs 10,000 for SC, BC and PwD candidates in government dental colleges, and Rs 2,00,000 for private dental colleges.
Candidates already registered who were not allotted a seat in Round 1 or Round 2 do not need to register again. Those who deposited security in Round 2 and got no seat do not need to deposit it again either, but they must still submit willingness for Round 3. Candidates applying for the first time, candidates who did not join a Round 2 seat, and candidates who exited Round 2 with forfeiture must apply afresh and pay the fee and security again.
Who cannot take part
Some candidates are shut out of this round entirely. Anyone who joined a Round 1 or Round 2 seat and does not submit willingness for Round 3 is out, as is anyone holding an All India Quota seat from an earlier round, as per the list shared by the Medical Counselling Committee. Candidates who became ineligible over inadequate documents are also excluded.
Joined candidates should also note one hard rule: once a seat is upgraded in Round 3, the earlier seat stands vacated automatically and cannot be claimed back. And once a candidate joins a Round 3 seat, that seat cannot be vacated later. The choice list entered between October 31 and November 5 is therefore the decision that counts, so candidates should rank colleges and specialisations in true order of preference rather than filling the form in a hurry. Our admission documents checklist covers the papers usually needed at reporting, and our guide to choosing a university in India sets out how to compare institutions beyond the name.
