Registration for the final round of Assam’s NEET UG 2026 counselling closes at 11:59 PM tonight. The Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Assam, opened the stray round portal on October 17 for MBBS and BDS admissions in medical colleges across the state, and applications must be submitted on the DME Assam website before midnight.
The stray round is the last phase of the state’s counselling. It is meant for candidates who have not secured a seat in the earlier rounds, and it fills the seats left vacant after those phases. There are no further rounds planned for the 2026 session, so tonight’s deadline is the cutoff point for Assam’s state quota medical admissions this year.
The stray round schedule
| Counselling event | Date |
|---|---|
| Registration | October 17, 2026 (till 11:59 PM) |
| Choice filling | October 18 to 19, 2026 (till 10 PM) |
| Choice locking | October 19, 5 PM to 11:59 PM |
| Seat allotment result | October 21, 2026 |
| Reporting and joining | October 25 to 26, 2026 |
Choice filling opens the day after registration closes and runs until 10 PM on October 19. Locking happens in a window on the same evening, from 5 PM to 11:59 PM. Candidates should enter their choices well before that window rather than leaving everything to the final hours, since portal traffic tends to peak near deadlines.
How to register
Register on dme.assam.gov.in before 11:59 PM tonight. Candidates who already registered in Assam’s earlier counselling rounds can move straight to choice filling, but anyone entering the process now must complete a fresh registration within today’s window.
Keep your NEET UG 2026 registration details and documents ready. Assam’s state quota counselling requires domicile-related certificates along with the standard Class 10 and 12 marksheets, so check the paperwork before starting the form. The admission documents checklist covers the standard set most colleges ask for at reporting time.
After the allotment
The seat allotment result will be published on October 21, and reporting runs October 25 to 26. That leaves a four-day gap between the result and reporting, which is the time to arrange original documents, the admission fee and travel to the allotted college.
Because the stray round fills leftover seats, the choice of colleges will be narrower than in round 3, and cutoff ranks may move differently from the earlier phases. Candidates considering a private college seat should also look at scholarships for Indian university students before the reporting window closes.
