Assam NEET PG 2026 Provisional Merit List Out; Missing Names Must Apply by October 16

October 16 is the date that matters. The Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Assam, published the provisional merit list for NEET PG 2026 state quota admissions on October 8, and candidates whose names are missing from it have until October 16 to make their case in person. The list is on the official DME Assam website.

What the list covers

The provisional list names candidates eligible for half of the postgraduate seats in Assam’s government medical colleges and the Dr. B. Borooah Cancer Institute (BBCI) in Guwahati, for the 2026 session. Government medical colleges in the state, such as the Gauhati Medical College in Guwahati, function under Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, the state’s affiliating university for medical education.

Admissions run under the Medical Colleges of Assam (Regulation of Admission into Post Graduate Degree and Diploma Courses) Rules, 2021, as amended. The Directorate compiled the list from data provided by the National Board of Examinations after the NEET PG 2026 results. Each entry shows the candidate’s name, NEET PG 2026 roll number, category, NEET PG score and state rank.

The list is provisional, so errors can still be fixed, but only if they get caught. Open the PDF and search for your name and roll number. If either is wrong or missing, your counselling eligibility is at stake. Only candidates whose names and NEET PG 2026 roll numbers appear in the state list can take part in the online counselling rounds.

The October 16 grievance window

If you meet the state’s eligibility rules but your name is not on the list, the representation has to be handed in physically. Submit the application, along with your NEET PG scorecard and identity documents, at the DME office in Khanapara, Guwahati (second floor, Room No. 5) on or before October 16, 2026, during office hours. Applications sent by post or electronically will not be accepted. Collect the acknowledgement receipt when you hand in the form, because without it you have no proof the representation was made. Late representations will not be considered.

What comes next

The state counselling schedule is yet to be announced. Once the final list is published, candidates will fill their choices and move through online seat allotment for the 50 per cent state quota seats.
